AOL Reality TV Taken to the Next Level with the Premiere of Project: Freshman Season Two

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 5, 2007 -- AOL's youth lifestyle service RED (http://www.beRED.com) has teamed with the University of Hawaii at Manoa (http://www.hawaii.edu) to bring to life season two of its popular reality series Project: Freshman. The show, which will stream a new episode every Wednesday, features new students Elliott Winter, Sarah Riordan and Brianna "Bri" Lagat-Ramos, as they embark on college life. The show is exclusively sponsored by AT&T.

Each student was given a video camera to document their personal experience -- the good, the bad and the ugly -- of heading to a new school. For thirteen weeks, RED? will showcase the lives of these three teens from different parts of the country, as they begin their first semester away from home. Each student will also post commentary on their own RED blogs.

"This series documents, through the student's eyes, what freshman life is really like?the excitement, the studying, the homesickness and the friendships that will last a lifetime." Timothy J. Hamilton, Executive Producer, 2C Media, Inc.

"Project: Freshman is a must-see for any college freshman," said Jacquie Moen, Vice President, AOL Kids and Teens. "We've teamed with real students whose reports are honest and refreshing and show kids what college is really like."

About the cast: Elliott Winter: Even though he's from Louisville, KY, Elliott is not your average country boy. This preppy surfer type is all about living life to the fullest. Back in Louisville, Elliott (or EWeezy), worked at a zoo where he quickly became fond of exotic cats. Inspired by the animal trainers in the tiger exhibit, Elliott found his passion and began his search for schools offering zoology as a major.

When he found UH Manoa, he knew it was a perfect fit. Elliott loves to surf, so his decision was made. Now he's left behind his parents and nine siblings and wants to show people what it's really like to be a freshman on a campus so far from home. Elliott was the most popular guy in his high school, but now he finds himself just one of the masses.

Sarah Riordan: With an impressive academic track record including National Honor Society all four years in high school, an AP Environmental Science Award and a U.S. History Award, Sarah Riordan may look like your quintessential student, but she's the first to tell you that college girls who work hard ? play harder.

Sarah grew up in New York and moved to Hawaii when she was six. Her parents divorced when she was 10 but when her dad got a job in Rhode Island the entire gang moved to the Ocean State. Upon graduating from high school, her mom moved back to Hawaii while her dad stayed on the East Coast. Although not her dad's first choice, Sarah decided to attend UH Manoa, where she's receiving a partial scholarship.

Bri Lagat-Ramos: Named her high school's Most Outstanding Female High School Athlete in 2007, Bri, a Hawaii native, has always loved playing sports. So friends and family weren't surprised when she decided to join the UH Manoa's Athletic Training program. Brianna graduated from her high school with honors and is the first in her ohana to go to college. She participated in UH Manoa's College Opportunities Program, which prepares Hawaii residents for a summer and first-year residential college experience on the Manoa campus.

Bri describes her high school career as "safe" and "sheltered," but now that she's in college, she's ready to break free and discover herself at UH Manoa. Bri is excited about living on her own and being able to do whatever she wants to do. On the other hand, she is also nervous that she might party a BIT too hard, since this is her first taste of adult living.

Beyond the debut of Project: Freshman Season Two, RED has joined forces with College Prowler, a leading Web site that reviews thousands of schools across the county. Every Thursday, RED's College area, RED U (http://www.beRED.com/college) will feature the review of a new school, as told to our reporter by real students who attend the school. The College area also features study guides and tips on how-to adjust to life away from home, meeting new friends and getting the most out of the college experience.

Project: Freshman Season Two is Executive Produced by Timothy J. Hamilton for 2C Media, a full-service production company whose major clients include AOL and Twentieth Century Fox Television.
